কঠিন সমস্যা হলো এই প্রশ্ন যে ভৌত প্রক্রিয়া কেন ও কীভাবে অভিজ্ঞতা জন্ম দেয়। ডেভিড চালমার্স নামটি গড়েছিলেন, আচরণ ও কাজ ব্যাখ্যা করার “সহজ” সমস্যাগুলো থেকে একে আলাদা করতে।
