Définition

Le libre arbitre est la capacité des agents à choisir entre des possibilités d’une manière qui les rend moralement responsables. Les libertariens disent que cela demande l’indéterminisme. Les compatibilistes disent que cela s’accorde avec le déterminisme. Les déterministes durs nient qu’il existe.
