정의

자유의지는 행위자가 도덕적 책임이 따르는 방식으로 대안 가운데 선택하는 능력이에요. 자유의지론자는 이를 위해 비결정론이 필요하다고 말해요. 양립가능론자는 결정론과 어울린다고 말해요. 강한 결정론자는 그런 것이 없다고 해요.
