정의

어려운 문제는 물리적 과정이 왜, 어떻게 경험을 낳는가 하는 물음이에요. 데이비드 차머스가 행동과 기능을 설명하는 “쉬운” 문제들과 구분하려고 이 이름을 붙였어요.

마음 모델 다이얼은 쉬운 문제를 재요. 어려운 문제는 총량에 들어 있지 않아요. 무엇이 필요한지 아무도 모르기 때문이에요.

모델에서의 역할

마음 총량은 쉬운 문제를 다뤄요: 지각, 기억, 행동이에요. 이것들은 모두 원칙적으로 계산할 수 있어요. 어려운 문제는 총량에 들어 있지 않아요. 무언가가 필요하다 해도 그게 무엇인지 아무도 모르기 때문이에요. 샌드박스가 시나리오가 “생각한다”고 할 때, 시나리오가 느낀다고 주장하는 것이 아니에요.
