정의

퀄리아는 자기 안에서 알아차릴 수 있는 경험의 느껴지는 성질이에요: 빨강의 붉음, 아픔의 아픔 같은 것이에요.

고통 다이얼은 시뮬레이션된 고통이 정말 고통처럼 느껴질 수 있다고 가정해요. 샌드박스는 그걸 가릴 수 없어요. 그에 따르는 행동의 연산만 재요.

모델에서의 역할

고통 다이얼은 윤리 미터는 바꾸지만 FLOP 하나도 바꾸지 않는데, 퀄리아가 그 이유예요. 고통의 몸 쪽 부분을 시뮬레이션하는 것은 싸요. 그것이 고통의 느껴지는 성질을 동반하는지는 연산 수치가 보여 줄 수 없는 일이에요. 샌드박스는 보여 줄 수 있는 척하지 않아요.
