정의

기질 독립성은 마음이 시스템이 무엇으로 이루어져 있는지가 아니라 어떻게 조직되고 무엇을 하는지에만 달려 있다는 생각이에요. 탄소든 실리콘이든 순수한 계산이든 다 돼요.

모델에서의 역할

마음 모델 다이얼은 마음이 뇌가 아닌 다른 것 위에서 돌아갈 수 있을 때만 의미가 있어요. 기질 독립성이 거짓이라면, 마음에 필요한 연산은 그냥 큰 것이 아니라 정의되지 않아요. 그리고 모든 시나리오의 모든 시뮬레이션된 사람은 진짜 누군가가 아니에요. 샌드박스는 그것이 참이라고 가정하고, 그렇다고 밝혀요.
