祖先模拟，是对一个文明自身过去的详细再现，包括有意识的居民，由技术成熟的后代运行。

“渲染起点”滑块。如果磁带从 1900 年开始，那么更早的一切都是没有渲染的背景故事。

在模型中的作用

这就是博斯特罗姆的论证所讲的那类模拟：后代运行自己的过去。这与所需算力有关，因为模拟历史可以晚一点开始。“渲染起点”滑块直接显示了这一点。开机之前的一切都是背景故事，没有人需要计算它。
