计算主义认为，认知是一种计算，而心智在相关意义上就是一个计算系统。

在本站

心智模型旋钮以 FLOPS 测量运行一个心智所需的算力。只有当计算主义至少是一个合理的工作假设时，这才有意义。

在模型中的作用

用浮点运算来测量一个心智，是一种计算主义的承诺。如果认知不是计算，“心智”总数测量的就是错的东西。本站把这个假设明说了出来。另一种选择是把心智排除在总数之外，那是一个更大的假设，只是披上了谨慎的外衣。
